Is it legit or just another scam?
This is the question so many people have when it comes to online courses.
Many of you are sceptical about making financial commitments online — especially when it comes to higher-priced courses that come with huge claims of life-changing proportions.
Can you genuinely change your life with Sam Ovens’ consulting program?
Is it really possible to start a profitable consulting business in a matter of weeks without going through any sort of formal training route? Or is it just another scam?
I’ll answer all these questions and more in this Consulting.com review piece.
Here’s what you can expect in the post:
This guide gives you all the information you need to make an informed decision on Sam Ovens’ consulting course.
As someone who’s personally paid for and gone through the program, I’ve got some valuable insights and feedback to share with you.
Let’s begin!
Who is Sam Ovens?
It can be a little jarring to see claims being made about the success you can achieve by taking a program that can be completed in a matter of weeks.
So let’s start from the ground up and get some background information on how this Consulting.com course came to be.
We’ve all heard of rags to riches stories. People going from nothing to achieving incredible success beyond their own wildest dreams in a short space of time.
This happens to be one of those stories.
But this isn’t a flashy rags to riches tale that promises wealth and abundance in a matter of weeks — it’s more of a journey about how an average guy stumbled onto an incredible business opportunity.
So who is this Sam Ovens person?
Four years ago, Sam Ovens was living out his parents’ basement in a far corner of the earth — Auckland, New Zealand…
Not pretty!
He got started in business at the age of 21. As a fresh-faced, impressionable young man, he followed the only path he knew:
Go to school to go to college. Go to college to graduate and get a job.
Sound familiar?
So at the age of 21, Sam Ovens found himself working for Vodafone on an internship.
His whole life he was told that this was THE way to succeed. Get a job at a corporate and work your way up the greasy ladder to live happily ever after.
But he quickly realised that the corporate way of life wasn’t his cup of tea.
He observed other people in the company and noticed that they were also pretty darn miserable.
This wasn’t the definition of success Sam was sold throughout his education.
So he started questioning things and quickly discovered that starting a business was a WAY better deal than having a job.
But this was only the beginning.
Over the next year, Sam Ovens started and failed with multiple businesses. He maxed out his credit cards and amassed over $50,000 worth of debt.
Redefining a business model
After the first year, Sam Ovens found himself in a mountain of debt, but this was about the change.
He had been doing some consulting on the side to fund his main project when he made his first major breakthrough…
Instead of focusing on a failing business venture that wasn’t making any money, why not double-down on the consulting work and turn that into a main source of income?
So that’s exactly what he did.
In his first year focusing fully on consulting, he made $100,000.
The second year $500,000.
Third year $1.2 million.
Sam Ovens had unwittingly redefined the model of consulting through his proprietary problem-solving process for businesses.
A new form of Consulting
So what comes to mind when you think about consulting?
Expensive suits? Big board meeting rooms? Corporate strategy advice?
This isn’t anything like the traditional form of consulting we’ve all come to know.
Sam Ovens quite literally redefined the term. A new type of consulting that’s defined by using expertise to provide a solution to a problem.
That’s it. Really.
So why do people hire consultants? Can’t they just solve these problems themselves?
Well, in some cases, yes they can.
But people invest in services for a variety of reasons:
- Speed – Getting to the desired situation as soon as possible.
- Lack of skill/knowledge – People/businesses don’t know how to reach their goal on their own.
- Proven system – People want to follow a tried and true system that’s proven to work.
These reasons are the drivers for businesses to invest in the service you have to offer. The more painful the problem, the more they’ll be willing to pay for you to fix it.

What is the Sam Ovens Consulting.com program?
The Consulting.com Accelerator program is a culmination of lessons learnt by Sam Ovens, distilled into an actionable, step-by-step process.
The same process that Sam Ovens himself used to create his own wildly profitable consulting business.
The consulting.com course is a 6-week intensive training program designed to teach you how you can use your existing (or learn entirely new) skills to create a profitable, location-independent business.
Each week is broken down into various elements of launching your business — from setting your foundations to learning sales, and mastering paid advertising strategies.
The course itself has gone through multiple iterations since it first launched — today’s version is by far the most polished, well-structured and comprehensive.
Who is the Consulting.com program for?
The Sam Ovens course is targeted towards a fairly broad market — people looking to start their own businesses without the traditional overheads and upfront costs.
For this reason, you’ll find people from all walks of life in this community.
And not everyone is starting a business from scratch here — many people implement the things they learn to their existing businesses, sometimes with incredible results.
It’s worth noting that the course isn’t for a specific type of business.
Consulting covers everything from helping people overcome emotional trauma to leadership coaching and generating leads for businesses.
So don’t assume that it’s limited to certain industries because you’ll be picking your own niche and crafting your offer based on your chosen area of expertise.
Examples of Successful Consulting Businesses
Providing examples of people that have started businesses through this course will give you some ideas on the kind of business you can start for yourself.
Like I said earlier, some people that have taken the course already have an existing business in place, while others are starting from scratch.
So if you’re starting out from ground zero, don’t expect to get results as fast as people who’ve already got an established business in place!
With that said, let’s have a look at some examples:
Taylor Benterud
Before joining the consulting accelerator course, Taylor had spent around $30,000 on online courses with barely any results.
Yikes!
But after joining Sam Ovens’ course, he launched Better AMS — a digital agency that specialises in managing ads for Amazon sellers.
Within his first 60 days on the course, he was able to close his first client for a cool $4,000 a month.
Better yet, the company has now generated millions of dollars in sales for multiple 7-8 figure businesses on Amazon.
Digital agencies are very popular for people looking to build a service business from scratch.
Typically you’d specialise in a form of advertising (such as Facebook ads, Youtube or Google PPC) and provide this service to clients for a monthly retainer fee.
Hunter Otis
Hunter spent the first few months as a Consulting.com member spinning his wheels. He tried Digital Marketing but it just wasn’t for him.
Hunter did what so many of us do when we’re not sure on what type of business we want to build…
He followed what other people were doing.
But what works for someone else may not work for you — and Hunter quickly realised this as he failed to make any progress at the start of his journey.
Eventually, Hunter settled on something himself and his wife both struggled with for a long time — porn addiction.
They started helping people become porn-free and built an impressive six-figure business within a few short months.
You can watch Hunter’s testimonial video on the consulting.com website.
What Does the Course Include?
Now that you’ve seen some examples of consulting businesses, it’s time to take a deep dive into the meat and potatoes of the course.
As I’ve taken the course myself, I’ll be giving you a granular overview of what to expect as well as what I thought of the modules and everything else on offer.
Let’s begin!
Sam Ovens Consulting Week 1 – Laying your foundations
The first week of Sam Ovens’ course covers the fundamentals of launching your consulting business.
We all know the importance of laying proper foundations for business-building and with consulting, it’s no different.
This is probably the most important module for anyone taking the course.
Why?
Because you learn fundamentals concepts of business that’ll stay with you forever. From picking your niche to the psychology behind high-end pricing and how to attract the best clients
This first week is a lot of work, so be prepared to spend a good chunk of time going through the action steps.
Here’s a full overview of the steps in the module:
The entire module can be briefly summarised into three main focal points:
- Defining consulting and how it works.
- Discovering your niche that you want to operate in.
- Crafting your most valued offer.
Once you’re done with this first week of the course, you’ll have your niche figured out, as well as the offer that you’ll take to market.
Sam Ovens Consulting Week 2 – Paradigm and worldview
The second week is all mindset!
This will be the most transformational module for some people.
Many of us struggle so much in business because we have limiting beliefs — feelings of entitlement, financial glass ceilings and other mental success barriers.
From personal experience, mindset has single-handedly been the toughest thing to master.
I’ve struggled with limiting beliefs, battled against negative thinking patterns and suffered through emotional suppression.
Thoughts. Feelings. Emotions.
Things that literally drive what we do on a daily basis.
This second module isn’t common material that you’d usually come across on an online course.
But you know what’s crazy?
It’s probably the number one driver of success.
Anyone can learn the strategies and techniques to start a business — but not many can handle the emotional side of starting a business from scratch.
Why?
Because you’ll fall down. You’ll smash into obstacles. You’ll get overwhelmed and feel like it’s going all wrong.
This is why the entire second module is dedicated to cultivating the mindset required for success.
Here’s a full overview of the steps in the module:
Yeah — it’s pretty wild haha!
This module is all about creating a paradigm shift — a new of thinking that’ll serve your highest purpose and help you achieve your goals.
Sam Ovens Consulting Week 3 – Alchemy of Client Conversion
The third module in the course is all about sales.
Sam Ovens says this module alone is worth the cost of the course.
And while this a common claim for people that love to exaggerate the value of their courses.
I do agree with him on this one.
Why?
Because most people totally suck at sales (me included).
And you won’t be taking on clients anytime soon if you can’t communicate your value proposition clearly.
Here’s a full overview of the steps in the module:
Sam Ovens cuts deep into the psychology behind sales in this part of the training — teaching you how to convert a stranger into a high paying client in one phone call.
Going through this module transformed the way I perceived sales.
Before taking the course, I always assumed that doing sales involved using pushy closing techniques and over-the-top hype.
But this couldn’t be further from the truth.
I learned that it was all about meeting the person half-way, identifying their emotional drivers and tailoring your solution to meet their needs.
Sam Ovens Consulting Week 4 – Alchemy of Client Attraction
Week 4 covers the marketing side of your business. You’ll learn actionable strategies you can use to get clients through free and paid strategies.
When you’re first starting out, one of your main points of focus will be landing that first paying client.
And this is exactly what week four is all about.
Sam Ovens does a great job at keeping things simple here by recommending straightforward strategies for landing your first few clients.
Much of the emphasis is placed on starting with free strategies to get the ball rolling before moving on to paid marketing methods.
Here’s an overview of the steps in the module:
This is really where the rubber meets the road. And it’s super exciting because you’ll start reaching out to your target market with your offer you’ve created!
Just don’t expect to see huge response rates through organic outreach methods when you first start out. Learning how to craft a powerful outreach message is a skill in itself that takes time to master.
Sam Ovens Consulting Week 5 – Fractal Facebook Evolution
Week 5 of the training is all about Facebook advertising.
This module will expose how the Facebook algorithm works and how you can use it to find customers that nobody else is marketing to.
The level of detail here is astounding, with more than 24 hours of content packed into this training module alone.
The advanced strategies covered in this week are unlike anything I have seen in other courses for paid advertising strategies.
And the best part?
Highly advanced strategies are explained from the ground up, making it easy to follow and implement for people that are totally new to Facebook ads.
Take a look for yourself:
I loved how hands-off this strategy is when you’ve got things up and running.
Once you set up your consulting funnel, find your target audience and craft an effective message, you won’t have to do much in the way of ongoing maintenance.
And you’ll be generating strategy sessions for your services on auto-pilot, giving you more time to focus on closing those clients!
Sam Ovens Consulting Week 6 – Minimum Viable Service Delivery
Week six of Sam Ovens’ course is all about structuring your service delivery.
From setting client expectations to hiring contractors and managing your cash flow — week six is heavily focused on the operations side of your business.
Yes, you don’t need to be an expert in PPC ads for Dentists to start a PPC agency for Dental practices.
You can just hire expert freelancers that can do this for you instead.
Here’s an overview of the steps in the module:
Week six teaches you how to automate your daily tasks so you can grow and scale effectively whilst maintaining an excellent level of service for your clients.
Consulting Accelerator Bonuses
The consulting.com course comes packaged with a bonus training module.
It’s called “DM Bonus” (Digital Marketing bonus) and goes through some steps you can take if you’re struggling to find your niche.
Sam Ovens also covers how he personally got started in consulting and how to sell marketing retainer contracts.
While this isn’t the strongest module in the training, it’s a great bonus given the level of meaty content packed into the first 6 weeks.
The second awesome bonus that I totally didn’t expect was a box set version of the entire course — at no extra cost.
Sam Ovens shipped these box sets to his students all over the world as a thank you for investing in his course.
And the box set is FREAKING AWESOME!
Here’s a quick little unboxing video I shot:
The Facebook Community
Most online course Facebook communities suck.
But the Consulting Community group is surprisingly solid.
Sam Ovens regularly posts updates on what he’s personally working on and makes the effort to respond to questions people ask on many occasions.
At this point, the community has over 10k members and is one of the most active Facebook groups I’ve personally been a part of.
People can post questions they have about anything relating to their consulting business. There’s also the “ring the bell” tradition for when people sign new clients in their businesses.
Here are a few recent ones:
Sam Ovens does a great job of encouraging people to join the Facebook group, which has resulted in a powerful community of like-minded people that can help you achieve your goals.
Is it all just another scam?
Well, at this point, I think you know the answer to that question.
Absolutely not.
But that doesn’t mean you should go ahead and invest your hard-earned cash into the course.
Why?
Because it isn’t for everyone.
You should avoid the course if the following applies to you:
- If you aren’t willing to pick up the phone and endure being terrible at sales when first starting out.
- If you skip modules and fail to complete the action steps.
- If you’re looking for a business that’s totally hands-off.
- If you’re not willing to fail forward and dedicate at least 8 hours a week to the course.
There’s no such thing as a “done for you” business. Everything takes work and it can be really tough at times.
But those that stick with the process and push through the inevitable obstacles often see success. It’s only a matter of time.
Final words
The Sam Ovens Consulting Accelerator is one of the most comprehensive and refined courses out here on the internet.
The service-based nature of consulting itself gives you some of the highest profit margins possible in business.
And the fact that you can acquire your first client in a matter of weeks after starting the course makes it one of the fastest ways to start a profitable business from scratch.
Here’s why you should consider joining the program:
- The course is ultra-polished and very well structured throughout with logical step-by-step action tasks.
- The content is packed with more value than anything else I’ve taken/seen in the past.
- The price of the course is 50% less than anything else that comes even remotely close.
- The strong active community provides the inspiration and support by the bucket load.
A $2000 investment really isn’t a lot of money for something that can totally transform your life. But ultimately it all comes down to you.
You’re now armed with the information you need to make an informed decision.
So what is going to be?
To consult? Or not to consult?
The choice is yours! :-)

I’m a London-born lover of technology, obsessed with online business, passive income and the digital economy. I love learning, researching and curating the most valuable resources to save you time, money and help you discover the truth on what it actually takes to achieve your goals.
awesome stuff. you found some things that I didn’t even know about Consulting students (and I’ve watched most all of our reviews haha)
Hahaha thanks Nick. Some pretty detailed research was involved in the creation of this post :P
this guy is full of BS. read here.

Actually, the only BS is in your mind Jamie. We’ve personally taken the course and we landed 2 clients at $2500 per month in a matter of weeks after getting started with Sam. If you rock the boat, some people will try to push you off. This is why you’ll find “dirtyscam” type reviews for even the best courses in existence. Changing your life requires a certain mindset — and some people just aren’t ready for it yet.
The REAL dirty scam is paying five or even SIX figures to go to college and receive a piece of paper that doesn’t guarantee even a mediocre job. Oh and don’t forget about paying that debt back for at least a decade after you graduate. This is collective insanity.
I am positioning myself as the Digital Diva. I want a kick ass website, high end products that provide beyond expectation value and a consistent income stream in access of $25k per month. Can you mentor me?
I a retired military guy who served 22 years as an Infantryman. I am currently teaching high school but will be resigning at the end of this school year and looking at starting a home-based business. I have a lot of leadership training but no other specialized skill sets. My biggest concern with this program is not being able to find the right niche for me. I am on the fence. Any guidance you can provide that will assist me in making my decision on whether or not to move forward with the purchase of this course would be greatly… Read more »
I am so glad to have run accross your article! I watched the webinar and have been considering taking this class as I am in “second career mode’. How good a job does the class do on finding your niche and culling your talent? Thank you!
It is funny how quickly peop[e judge when they THINK they are being scammed. Jamie has not even found the email he would have been sent to login to the program. He is just pissed he could not get his money back and goes out a judging without taking responsibility and saying to himself that he is to blame for making the decision to buy. Nobody twisted his arm and forced him to do anything yet he insists on judging Sam and the course. This is the normal thinking of people in this screwed up world where the masses don’t… Read more »
You hit it on the nail dude. The mindset of the masses is not one that leads to success but rather one that looks for the easy option, and the finger to blame for personal failure.
this article is constantly selling the program, not really reviewing it form a constructive honest point of view
I’m sorry if it came across that way. Ultimately if you feel the course is not suitable for you, please don’t invest your money! It’s important for you to do your own research to determine whether things are suitable for you or not.
I’ve joined the program last June. I’m a military navy reservist (non commissionned officer) done some hard things there for a few years, and in my 26 years corporate career I worked my way up, hard things there to, scaled from employee to top management positions reaching Chairman of the board positions and chairman of the advisory board (check http://www.themanaging.com). I hold a Business degree from Essec Business School (one of Europe’s top Business Schools), which I’ve gotten later in my career. Sam’s course content is good and genuine, I can assure you of that. All you have to do… Read more »
Ahmad, I just watched Sam’s 2hour online sales intro for the course. I wanted to purchase, however, could you tell me…I see your review is recent and his course has been out for a couple of years. Do you know is it just great sales and organizational meat that is really timeless or are some of the modules becoming outdated? Thank you for your time, Kara Lee
Hi Kara,
Good to hear from you! The bulk of the content in the course consists of evergreen principles and actionable steps you can take to start a consulting business from scratch. The course itself is a few years old but it has gone through multiple iterations since it first came out to ensure it stays up to date with market changes. If anything, the Facebook ads training will be a little outdated but you should be good for everything else. Hope this helps!
